My Story
Growing up in Canada as a first-generation immigrant, academics were always prioritized over soccer in my family. Despite my best efforts to convince my parents to sign me up for a club team, it was to no avail. I would not let this deter me, playing soccer everyday at recess and going to the park after school to practice drills I invented. While I did not realize it at the time, that period when I was not playing on a team helped me develop the habit of supplemental training. When I finally convinced my parents to sign me up for a team, I continued extra training because I realized that club sessions were simply not intense or frequent enough to help me maximize my development as a player. While I trained individually, I realized the limitations to this style of supplemental training which led me to create a training group. Working with a handful of equally dedicated friends, we were able to push ourselves to the limits by performing high intensity drills mimicking in game scenarios.
I was able to go from not playing on a team to playing youth soccer in Germany within 4 years, with support from my club coaches and supplemental group training. While the experience overseas did not go as initially planned, those two years spent in Germany and subsequently in Romania showed me first hand what it takes to make it at the highest level. My goal with Studs Up is to take all the wealth of knowledge and experience I have acquired so far and share it with the next generation of young soccer players. I feel a great responsibility and a sense of duty in helping players avoid making the same mistakes I made growing up. I look forward to seeing you out on the field so we can get stuck in and work together towards achieving your soccer goals.
